Events Calendar

Each year the Friends of the Saint Louis University Liver Center sponsors three fundraising events, Shoot for a Cure, Swing for a Cure, and the Diamonds Gala. All fundraising events help support the Friends mission to raise money to support the research efforts of the Saint Louis University Liver Center for the treatment and cure of liver diseases, and to promote understanding and awareness of liver disease.

This is an opportune time to highlight a few of the accomplishments of the Saint Louis University Liver Center made possible in part by our Sponsors and Donors.

  • More than 1,000 original papers, chapters, reviews and editorials were published by Liver Center members in the past 13 years. These have been published describing various research activities of investigators and researchers within the Saint Louis University Liver Center. Dr. Adrian Di Bisceglie and Dr. Bruce Bacon were investigators and co-authors on four (two each) New England Journal of Medicine publications describing the findings of the new protease inhibitors which have revolutionized the treatment of Hepatitis C.
  • We are proud to say forty nine seed research grants have been awarded (Totaling $1,633,929 and additionally $169,992 of research equipment and laboratory research supplies).
  • The above seed research grant funds generated twenty-seven NIH, VA and foundation awards totaling over $29 million, which represents more than a 18.3 fold, return on investment.  Additional grant applications have been submitted and are pending potential award notices at this time. We use the monies generated by the Friend’s organization to support new research programs, purchase research and patient supplies, and to provide additional support for existing programs, both in clinical and basic research.
  • Since 2018, the Liver Center has supported 9 student stipends totaling $31,500 for undergrad and graduate students to work in the laboratories of Liver Center investigators. It is the Liver Center’s hope that fellowships will help foster the development of the next generation of medical researchers.
